Activists in Belgium at the protest
New York, February 15 - Animal activists protested before the Chinese Embassy in Brussels on Tuesday. The demonstration was to condemn China of the brutal treatment of animals to produce fur. Despite heavy downpour activists from Dierenleed Azië, Animaux en Peril (animal shelter) and Bite Back Belgium held banners and campaign posters, and raised slogans against China. The demonstration took place at a busy street thus enabling several passersby to join the protest. An activist said that protests at the Embassies in Belgium draw a little attention from the media but that they will continue to protest irrespective of media attention. “That is why we also carry out our demonstrations around business centers where animal fur is sold,” said Marianne Huiberts of the Bite Back Belgium.

Activists from Dohayko in Istanbul, Turkey.
Police told the activists that the Chinese Ambassador was not in office. Activists say that the Ambassador goes out whenever there are demonstrations. They say that Tibet Support Groups hold protests on a regular basis and the Ambassador is out of office on those days too. “But we heard that the Ambassador seeks report of every demonstration so we hope we get heard.” Several people in Turkey, Brazil and Israel also took to the streets in protest of the horrific treatment meted out against animals in China.

Global
Day of Action against the Chinese Fur Industry
International
Anti-Fur Coalition plans protests in more than 20 locations on
February 13th
Over
half of the world's fur today is produced by China, a country with
no animal welfare laws where millions of dogs and cats are also
killed for fur every year. Undercover video investigations have
shown Chinese fur farm workers skinning animals alive without
concern for their pain, leaving them to a slow and agonizing death.
.
Many
organizations around the world are fighting to stop this
ongoing atrocity, and proudly join the International Anti-Fur
Coalition in the annual global day of action against the Chinese
fur industry, taking place on Tuesday, February
13th.
.
Please join us this year and stand up for all the animals
suffering on Chinese fur farms.

Alive": a voice to say "No to fur" !

Skinned
alive
It’s not a bad dream
It happens in real life
They tear off our skin
while we are still alive
why do they take
our souls away
for coats to wear
on winter days ?
We are scared and afraid
Facing our death alone
standing in a line
waiting for our turn
look into our eyes
we feel pain just like you
but we cannot talk
that’s why we need you
Let’s get together
Let’s give them a voice
Get up, stand up
Let’s make that choice
The animal rights revolution starts
We will fight for the beating hearts
We have to answer their cry to survive
And let the animals stay beautiful alive !
Born into deprivation
Short life in a tiny cell
Misery and isolation
Angels forgotten in hell
Our bodies laid aside,
Our bones are thrown
Now, our death is ready to be worn
No protection and no explanation
To this deadly pain, humiliation
We have only you, please understand
Save us from fashion’s cruel deadly hand
Let’s get together
Let’s give them a voice
Get up, stand up
Let’s make that choice
The animal rights revolution starts
We will fight for the beating hearts
We have to answer their cry to survive
And let the animals stay beautiful alive !
