There are
many non-lethal methods of successfully managing pigeon
overpopulations in a humane and compassionate way.
Please consult PICAS (http://www.picas.org), which is a
non-profit organization that
works with organizations all over the world solving pigeon
overpopulation problems.
PICAS' advise is free and as a result all advice is
non-commercially biased. I urge you to contact PICAS and
seek its guidance in implementing a cruelty-free solution.
Lethal control of pigeons by culling or starvation has been
consistently shown to have no long-term effect on population
levels.
It is also expensive, inhumane and results in very negative
publicity.
Mahatma Gandhi has said, "The greatness of a nation and its moral
progress can be judged by the way its animals are
treated." I hope you will not disgrace your great
city.

Please stop the plan to lethally control pigeons
Dear Mayor Cacciari,
I am outraged at the news that you support the plan to kill
the
pigeons of St. Mark's Square. I urge you to stop this plan
immediately.

Thank you very much for your attention. I look forward to
hearing
from your regarding your decision. If you decide to implement
a
lethal plan, I will boycott Venice tourism, and urge all my
family,
friends and colleagues to do the same.
Sincerely,
